Immunology (including AIDS) - Night with a shemale

Expert: Ian - 10/19/2009

Question
Hi,

I live in Europe. After a night of heavy drinking I called an escort service and ordered a shemale. It was one of my major fantasies, it was my first time. I was passive and performed unprotected oral on her and swallowed a small amount of semen. The anal sex - also passive - was with condom. She said she's from Brazil. I enjoyed it very much, but when I came to my senses the other day, I realized it was very irresponsible. I just wanted to know how much I have endangered myself and what should I do now. Thank you

Answer
Hi

Thanks for the question. Well, there is a small risk of HIV from oral sex (see this website for more info: http://www.avert.org/oral-sex.htm ). You used a condom for the anal sex - so that's a very good thing.

Well, I'd probably advise you considering an HIV test in a few weeks - the chance of being infected if the escort has HIV is low (less than 1%), but in these situations it is best to be sure. You could visit a local testing centre (you're in Europe, so these are easy to find, and very confidential), and see what they say.

Hope this helps. The chance is low, but there is still a slight risk.

Feel free to send a follow up.

Best wishes

Ian
