Organizations I am a lecturer at a University in the UK, and advise a number of organisations on HIV/AIDS and especially the stigma that surrounds HIV.
I tried to make the decision to stay away from your website. However, I have not been able to as you can see.
I will try to get to the point quickly. I have tested out to 7 months with an ELISA result being negative. I should be to view this as being conclusive and definitive. However, I can't. Everytime I feel sick, I start to think about HIV. For example, this past week, I felt muscle and joint pains. So I began checking my temperature which can reach as high as 99.6 through the course of a day but never being 98.6 in the morning. I began looking at my hands for a rash and feeling my neck for swollen lymph nodes. Sometimes, I can see a rash and feel swollen lymph nodes.
After telling you all that, here are my two basic questions: 1.) Is there any possible way that symptoms after a negative ELISA at 7 months can be related to HIV whether it be ARS or anything else? 2.) Is there anything about the stuff I described above that should have me concerned about HIV?
Thanks for everything you have done,
KRB
Answer Hi
Thanks for the question. Well, a negative ELISA can be taken as conclusive - you haven't got HIV [unless you had been in contact with HIV less than 3 months before the test, or since the test...if you suspect this, you should consider another test].
If you're sure you haven't, then your symptoms are concerning, but won't be HIV. I recommend seeing a medic to make sure there isn't something else that needs treatment.
