Question
Hello
I'm an english teacher from syria.
I have a proplem with my student, how to make them creative in writing? How to make them love writing poems, short stories or anything else.
please I really want an answer.
thank you.

Answer
Well I appreciate you coming to me for advice but you can't necessarily create a love for writing. Perhaps, you can spark an interest by having them write about whatever is on their mind or what they are most interested in no matter how bizzare or out of line it may seem. This is where the essence of creativity is born, so allow them to explore themselves. They may have fun and begin to enjoy writing. Let them see that it's not a chore but a way of expression.

May I suggest an excercise my writing professor had done with my class. In the beginning of class have the students write whatever is on their minds for 10 minutes without stopping, whether to think or rest. It doesn't matter if it is unorganized or not. I'm sure you'll be surprised by the result.
