Question Hey, what is the best way for a lyricists to capture the audience through emotion as well as better illustrate a message?
Answer Hi,
I am not a vocalist, though have written lyrics. From any type of musician's perspective, an extremely unique individual that serves as a great reference for the question you addressed is guitarist Steve Vai.
If you try to get a hold of any video or videos of him performing live you will learn quite a bit through simple observation. Vai is an extremely expressive musician (visually as well as aurally). Be it slow, fast, angry, sad, weird, luke-warm, wild, yearning, etc. - you can discover several kinds of emotions illustrated in Vai's performances.
I cannot say there is any single "best way" for a lyricist to capture the audience but you can certainly discover that the example musican noted above is quite successful with their methods of portraying the message.
