Increasing Self-Esteem/My Wife

Question
My wife and I got married about 4 months ago. I have known that she was abused by her stepdad all her life. Here the last week she has been getting worse. She has anxiety and terribly low self esteem. If I make a sudden move or sound she jumps. Last night she heard something outside. I couldn't find anything I looked which caused her to have a panic attack. She won't get professional help. How can I help her.

Answer
Dear Jason,

Your wife's anxiety may be due to an underlying biochemical disorder that has the effect of over-producing stress hormones such as adrenaline. The fact that your wife may have been abused by her step-father may not be the main issue.

Please read:

and

and discuss with a Nutritional Doctor, Clinical Nutritionist or a Nutritional Psychologist if you want to.

Please ask your wife to test herself with the

The Nutrition-Behavior Inventory Questionnaire (NBI) at:
http://www.hypoglycemia.asn.au/articles/nutrition-behavior_inventory.html

and

The Hypo Quizz at:
http://www.hypoglycemia.org/hypo_test.asp

and if she score above normal, she is likely to have a hypopglycemic syndrome, which could be responsible for the symptoms, and which can be treated by going on a hypoglycemic diet.
