Increasing Self-Esteem - Best Friend?

Expert: Jason Stroming - 9/18/2009

Question
I am a fourteen year old girl and there is this boy in my school. His name is tyler and we have been best friends for about two years. Just a couple months ago i got a huge crush on him and tried to get over him cuz i knew it might hurt our friendship. After a summer of not seeing him i think my feelings went away, but now i cant talk to him at all. Im just not comfortable around him like i used to be. Every time i try to have a conversation with him my mind goes blank of funny or creative things to say and i end up mumbling like an idiot. I dont know how i should fix this... please help.

Answer
Hi Katie,

I think you're thinking too much about this. When we discover that we like someone in that way, sometimes we try too hard to impress them, and we start over-analyzing things and it gets to a point where we can't do anything in front of them! You should try talking to him to see how he feels. But in general, try not to think about it too much! Hope this helps!

Jason
