Question I am a 53 yr. female, on synthroid for hypothyroid disease x 2 yrs., remeron for 9 months, but still experience some depression. I believe my depression is somewhat triggered by my husband who is a 5 bypass recovering, juvenile diabetic x 50 yrs. who frequently has temper outburst...either do to low blood sugars or just because. He is extremely verbally abusive. I can stick up for myself better now than before remeron, but I still suffer from low self esteem because of his abuse. Any websites that you know of that I could get positive feedback in order to deal better with my own depression and low self esteem?
Answer I am glad you realize that that temper tantrums and bad behaviour can be due to diabetes and in particular hypoglycemia.
But it would help you if you could improve your self-esteem and get more assertive. being assertive is the opposite to being aggressive.
We have a self-help PSYCHOTHERAPY course that will help you to overcome your low self-esteem.
Please also learn about the Assertiveness Training Program in that course. You can learn these new skills my means of mental exercises as explained in the course.
