Question
I am writing a book and I would like to know what kind of utensil a rural Indian might use in which to eat their curry today? It's only one line in my book and I want to make it as authentic as possible. I love India and I love curry! thanks.

Answer
Indians do not use utensils to eat. Only (some) urbanites in the newly developing middle class who seek to ape western ways would ever employ utensils.

Indians use  (only)  their right hand; and utilize small pieces of  bread to scoop up wet or sauced foods.

Note: Soup is not present in (actual) Indian cuisine, so spoons are not needed; but if need be partially  liquid dishes can be drank directly from the bowls, as is commonplace throughout much of Asia.
