AboutSojourner Expertise Indian main dishes, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, especially S. Indian, and breads (puri, chappati, nan). I had roti on here before but I can only make plain roti on the stove top - not tandoori roti or any of the fancy roti. I'm not so knowledgeable about snacks, pickles, desserts/sweets, or chutney.
I can find recipes for just about anything, though. Since I know the ingredients and the different measuring styles, I can "translate" recipes into a format more easily understood by an American audience.
I can also help you find sources for ingredients, explain what the staples used in Indian cuisine are, and explain what the different spices used in North and South Indian cuisine are and where to find them affordably.

Question Hi, I'm not sure if i ask this at the right place, but i was hoping you can tell me; do you have any Restaurants over there? And, say I want to take someone to a nice Restaurant serving a three course meal for 2 people, what could I expect to pay? (if you can just give me a rough estimate) Thanks.
Answer I am answering this out of the question pool as no one else has answered it for you yet and it has been hanging around for quite a while. Since it was not addressed to me, I didn't get notification of it - so please don't hold me accountable for the delay in answering.
There are many fine restaurants in India, especially now with the growth of the middle class there. I can't give you a cost estimate without knowing more about where you plan to travel and what your price range is (and also because I haven't been there for 25 years), but a meal for 2 should be quite affordable. It is, of course, possible to find quite expensive restaurants, as it is here in the States, but you should have no trouble finding a good restaurant in your price range just about anywhere you may travel within India.
