Question I may be moving to jakarta and I would like to set up my own freelance business. I searched and searched on the net hw to do it, but couldn't find anything. My questions are:
- is it difficult to set up your own business?
- how's the tax system?
- can you recommend some sites (not in bahasa)who would tell me what to do.
Thanks!! Anna
Answer Anna,
Setting up a business in Indonesia can be expensive and time consuming, however very rewarding, Jakarta is a city with over 16 million people so many opportunities exist.
The tax system can be quite complex with various types and applications, i suggest you seek advise as to those that apply to you when you speak with an agent to set up your company.
there are several web sites, i always find that a good place to start is www.expats.or.id which has many links, you may also want to look at www.recruitment-indonesia.com links page which can be quite helpful.
Please let me know if you need additional information.
