Question Dear Nancy, I'm a 37yo italian living in Hong Kong, I would like to visit Yogyakarta (Prambanan and Boroboudur) with a friend, from 9 to 12 of May. In order to avoid garuda airlines i would like to take a cathai pacific pacakege to bali, do you think there's any chance to find a ferry from Bali to Yogyakarta? Can you suggest me any travel agent or cruise company to book the ferry trip? How long does it take the ferry from Bali to Yogyakarta?
Ciao
Thanks
Daniele
Answer Hi, Daniele,
Cathay is perfect, and Garuda is incompetent, but not that bad flying-wise. And yes, you can get a ferry from Bali but it takes serious time!!! Doesn't sound like you have it! You'd have to go from Denpasar to the NW of Bali, ferry over, then go overland for several hours from the Java side . . . basically, you'd blow a whole day doing it and then you'd still have to get back to Bali. And while your hotel may be able to get you a ferry ticket, most agents don't handle them (too cheap). Flights used to be dirt cheap . . . I'd recommend taking one!
Take care,
Nancy B
