Expert: Indonesia Expat Date: 9/1/2007 Subject: where to have my Honeymoon in Bali
Question Dear, Mr/Ms
I'm planning for my honeymoon by next November, most probably from 1st to 7th of November, 2007.
I'd prefer to have a midrange hotel, the idea is to stay and sleep in a moderate place (but still a good one) so that we'd be able to go many places to have fun and shop for nice souvenirs , i'd like to stay in a place with nice weather, beautiful scenery, nice beach, diving and water sports also would be nice, we'd like also to explore new places. A place where we can go here and there not just sitting in a hotel or a resort. We also would love to move from one city/ island to another. We need a Safe and Secure place should also be guaranteed and please we'd like to know about food, and weather during that time, also if we have got to have any vaccination prior our visit.
We're alocating about 450$ per person execluding international airfares and other expenses like meals, and shoppings.
Thanka alot for your time and consideration,
Best regards
Answer Hi Samar,
I just want to clarify: you're allocating $450.00/person just for your accommodation expenses? Is that per day or for the entire honeymoon period of time? $900.00 total from November 1st to the 7th?
Be advised that Bali beaches are not that great. There are much nicer places to go for a honeymoon and enjoy watersports, like the beaches of Sulawesi or Lombok. Although Lombok has gotten overrun by beach boys over the past years, just like Bali. I rate Bali's beaches a 1 out of 10, quite frankly. Nothing to write home about. Sulawesi has the possibility of staying somewhere with beautiful beaches and then going of to other small islands around it. Lombok also holds the same possibility as it has many smaller islands around it that tourists head out to which have beautiful hotels and beaches.
The weather is always hot. Hot or hotter. Hot and dry or hot and humid. November falls into the rainy season. That doesn't mean that it will rain 24/7, but you'll get more of a break from the stifling heat. Personally, I prefer rainy season. Much fresher and greener. It is absolutely the best feeling to swim in the warm Indonesian ocean when it's raining. It's like floating around in a beautifully warm bathtub.
Safety can't be guaranteed anywhere in Indonesia, so I'm not able to provide you with a recommendation for a 100% secure location. However, the more you hang around places like Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, etc in Bali, the more likely you'll be to experience something negative. Those are the biggest tourist areas in Bali. In Indonesia you need to be prepared for the unexpected.
Please provide further info regarding your accommodation expenses so I can answer your question more completely.
