Question We have lived in this new condo for 3 yrs. Shortly after getting settled we started seeing what appears to be dirt or dust on the ceiling and the walls of the main open area. This area has a cathedral ceiling with a ceiling fan. It seems to be spreading down to the walls . I beleive it may be from the ceiling fan which I use at low speed in the winter running in reverse and in the summer on extra warm days. I chose you as my expert since you have experience with radon also. Before purchasing we had a building inspection and radon gas was found. The sellers had a new radon system installed before we would buy the house. I do not think the radon is a problem since the first was in acceptable range & the second was slightly out of range. About .003 above acceptable.
The real question I want to know is there anyway to clean this that is not to messy or wet and if painting will really solve the problem? I apologize for the long explanation ,but feel it necessary for you to understand the situation. I am also considering some type of air cleaners. Thank you for any help you can suggest.

Answer Hi Joe,
It sounds a bit strange that dirt is visible advancing down your walls?? But perhaps if there is a rough texture on the walls or ceilings the dirt will cling more easily. I would try using on of those flat dust mops that are treated so the dust will stick to the pad. I'm not sure what you call them....maybe Swifter is brand name I've heard of.
Radon levels fluctuate daily even hourly. But the main concern is what the longterm levels in your home are. To know this you have to do a longterm test. I have some info on my web site about testing. http://www.indoor-air-health-advisor.com/radon-test-kit.html
