Question
Hello
I am going to the third year in university .I'm studying industrial engineering at polytechnique of tehran (INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION).
I want to find a good topic to work on , which is better to be new and can be applied.
For example I decided to chose MIS but I found that some of my classmates have chosen that and I didn't want to choose the same subject.
Could you give me a suggestion ?I really need it
because I want to have an essay in the field of  future chosen subject 4 month later to present that in our next internal conference and I want to notice  that as my final project.
Please help me. I'm really confused with it and think that I'm wasting the summer
Thanks for your attention

Answer
Hello Shimna!  Thanks for your question.  Let me suggest one of my favorite areas 'work measurement' also known as labor productivity.  This is the process where-in the tasks required to produce a product or service are identified, measured through observation (at which time roadblocks to efficiency are identified), and standards developed.  The standards are then utilized in costing and, when coupled with workload projections, used to establish proper staffing levels.  Identified inefficiencies are communicated to management and management is then held accoutable for correcting same.  In a nut shell, that is it.
I hope this will be of some help to you.

Good luck!

Frank
