Infertility/Fertility/Depo & Fertility

Question
For a little background information back in 2000 I had my daughter & 6 weeks later I began Depo Provera shot. I used it until my daughter was 6 years old. I went off of it just for the simple fact I was not sexually active & felt there was no reason to continue using it. This was 2 years ago, I have now been remarried for almost a year and we are trying to get pregnant. I have had a regular period for almost 2 years. Unfortunately we are having no luck getting pregnant. When I went for my check-up with my new OBGYN he told me that a study had came out saying that Depo for more than 2 years was harmful... I was on it for 6 years. Could this be why I am not having any luck getting pregnant? If not, what is the possibility? I am 27 & my husband is 26... so age shouldn't be a factor. Thanks for the help!

Answer
Hi Sharon,

There are LOTS of reasons why someone has trouble getting pregnant.  For example, I see many men in their 20's who have terrible sperm (for one reason or another).

You should both get tested by a qualified fertility specialist, as infertility is defined as someone (your age) who doesn't conceive after one year of regular, unprotected intercourse.

Hope this helps,
