Question
I had hypothalamic amenorrhea (very low estrogen levels) for 1.5 yrs before doing one cycle of follistim + HCG. From that, I became pregnant with quadruplets which I delivered in December. I am currently breastfeeding and about 12 weeks after birth I started having periods again. They have been irregular (presumably because I am breastfeeding) with short luteal phases but I am ovulating again. Can I expect to keep having cycles or will the hypothalamic amenorrhea come back eventually? My dr suspected my weight and low body fat was the reason for the HA but he was not certain. I weigh about 10 lbs more now than when I got pregnant (I'm about 5'4'' 125). Thanks.

Hi Nicole,

It's variable and therefore not predictable whether or not your periods will come regularly, irregularly, or not at all in the future.
