Infertility/Fertility/HCG LEVEL AT 55

Question
Hi Dr!

I had an IUI procedure on June 13th. Today I had my blood test done and it came out that my  HCG level is 55 and I had to do another blood test on MOnday the 30th. Is this level not good? Is it routinary to  check HCg levels every 2-3 days to makesure it's going up? The person who called me said it can be 2 things: that the ovualtion happened after the insemination and the other that has something to do with my cycle being just late. does this mean I might not be really preganant?
We ahve waited almost 6 years for this time to come and it's a joy that they say that teh test came out positive vut it still scares me about that  changing. Please tell me your honest opinion based on past cases you have handled.
Thank you very much.

Answer
Hi,
An hCG level of 55 two weeks after IUI is within the normal range for pregnancy.  Checking the level every 2-3 days thereafter for a short period of time is routine.
