Question
Hi, I am 19 years old and engaged. We have been trying for a baby for about a year. I have been tracking my periods, fertile days, etc. Ive bugged him about wearing loose boxers, cutting back on sodas, everything. I'm horribly terrified I may not be able to have babies. He's in the military, so starting a family is major point for us.
I'm in Texas by the way. Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hello Rosemary from the U.S. (Texas),

By definition, if a woman has not been able to achieve pregnancy after 12 months of trying, they are classified as having an infertility problem.  It is recommended that she undergo infertility testing followed by an appropriate treatment.  The treatment has to be tailored to the problem(s) so don't get duped into going straight to fertility medications by your doctor.  They are not magic and only help with the 1st two steps of the reproductive process.  I would recommend that you get a referral to a fertility specialist to undergo this evaluation.  Depending on where you are currently stationed, some of the medical centers do have a fertility specialist on staff so the evaluation won't cost you anything.  In the civilian sector, it can cost upward of $3000+.
