Infertility/Fertility/Secondary amenorrhea

Hi, not sure if this is the right category...but I hope so! I'm a 22 yr old female, I've had secondary amenorrhea since October 2015. Before that I was almost spot-on regular for over 5 years. I don't know of anything that would've caused it, I did not change my diet, stress, exercise, was tested for pregnancy and thyroid issues and both were negative. I had an appointment scheduled with a gynecologist but it's not til May. But these last couple days I've actually started spotting. It's pretty light, but very dark in color and comes with cramps. My question is should I still be worried, or is the spotting my body resetting itself and preparing for a cycle?

Hello Jessica from the U.S.,

There is something wrong and most likely it is some form of hormonal disorder, probably an ovarian dysfunction.  An appointment with a gynecologist is warranted to evaluate and treat the problem.  Can't advise more without testing and more information.  The spotting you are now having is probably not your period, rather it is dysfunctional bleeding from an endometrial lining that has not shed itself in several months.

Good Luck,
