Infertility/Fertility/Clomid, light period

Question
Hello, I'm 30 years old and TTC. For the last months I've been spotting brown for about 3 days beginning my period. My doctor told me I had a hormone imbalance and prescribed Clomid 100 mg for 5 consecutive months. I took the clomid but the spotting continued. I had an HSG which came out normal. My doctor doesn't really know what is causing this so he wants to do a Laparoscopy. The last cycle I was on clomid I noticed that my period was extremely light and consisted mostly of a thick brown discharge. I've read that Clomid can thin the uterine lining and disrupt endometrial development. Could the extremely light period be caused by the Clomid? And will it be self-corrected? This cycle I didn't take Clomid and it seems that I'm having an extremely light period again. Thankyou for your time! I appreciate your help!

Answer
Hi,

Clomid can cause a light period, but so can other possible causes.  It sounds like you may be "spinning your wheels", and I would suggest you consider seeking out a consultation with a board certified reproductive endocrinologist.  You're certainly welcome to come here for RAPID diagnosis and treatment....
