Question
I am interested in becomine an egg donor. I have an interested family I have met and would like to help them by doing this. I have some questions though. I am currently on birth control does this matter? What is the procedure involved? Is there any pain involved? How long does the procedure take?

Answer
Hi there.

You will need to be on birth control pills most likely anyway for an egg donation cycle.  The actual procedure itself doesn't take long but can be risky and I would advise you to do some research on all of your risks.  There is a very lengthly process involved up to the point of egg donation.  Lots of preparation, bloodwork and legalities.  The procedure isn't painful as you are under anesthsia.  But, you will experience some discomfort after the procedure for a few days.

I hope this helps you.

Hi! My name is Nita. I am an egg donor myself. I have spent hours and hours researching the rewards and risks involved with egg donation. I have had the most beautiful experience of my life being an egg donor, I have also had a not so good experience that did not result in an egg donation. So, I am very aware of the psychological aspects from each end of the spectrum. I am here to help the egg donor, to focus on you, your concerns and your questions. Of course, I will be happy to help anyone, any way that I can. Feel free to ask me anything, even if I don`t know, I may be able to point you in the right direction!
