Yes, I have had the sperm test done. My motility was at 40%, which I understand is slightly low, but my count was extremely high. I can't remember the exact number.
Our family practice physician instructed my wife to take the Chlomid, but no, she isn't being monitored on it right now. We have an appointment at the beginning of October with a Dr. Schoolcraft here in Colorado. From what I understand, he is a top notch fertility doc.
Should my wife not be using Chlomid if she isn't being monitored? Our family practice doc didn't mention anything about ultrasounds and that worries me a bit.
Thank You
David

Question -
I am a 35 year old male, who does smoke, and my wife is a 31 years old. We have no medical problems. We conceived a child 12 years ago when in college and decided on abortion at the time. We have been trying to have a child for the last 2.5 years and have been unsuccessful. On my wife's last cycle we tried chlomid and had intercourse every day and were not successful. My wife did have the dye test done and that showed no problems. What should we be trying at this point? Should we be monitoring temperature? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
David
Answer -
Hi David,
If you haven't had sperm testing, it needs to be done. Is she being monitored on Clomid to make sure it's not causing her uterine lining to be too thin? This is done with ultrasound. Is she being monitored to make sure her mucous isn't poor on Clomid? This is done by her doctor at the time of ovulation. Are you timing her ovulation properly? I hope so.
If someone isn't pregnant on Clomid within 3-4 cycles, she should consider seeing a board certified reproductive endocrinologist who can perhaps better diagnose why she isn't pregnant and dictate a proper course of treatment.
I hope this makes sense - If you want, you're certainly welcome to come here for rapid, highly aggressive and successful treatment!!

Answer Dear David,
I can't tell you if your wife should or shouldn't take Clomid, as that consitutes dictating medical care, and that's illegal since she's not my patient. I will say, though, that I strongly feel women shouldn't generally take Clomid without being properly monitored....
Dr. Schoolcraft is a superb RE. I wish you the best of success in your pursuit of your precious goal!
