Question
I have been on metformin to promote ovulation for 6 months. Also I done a round of 50mg clomid cd2 thrugh cd7 in May and again in July. Didn't do June because no period but not pregnant.Had to do provera. Progesterone test showed no ovulation so done provera again and Augest dr upped me to 100mg clomid cd3 thrugh cd8 done progesterone test on cd22 instead of cd21 because of a mistake the nurse made. Showed no ovulation but on cd24 I started my period. Do you think it is possible I ovulated early since I started my period early without the help of progesterone? My dr has upped me to 150mg clomid cd3 thrugh cd8 for September cycle I have not ever had any side effects from clomid not even the grouchy part I have herd it can cause but I am lery of starting 150mg. ( JUST A LITTLE ABOUT MY INFO) My husbands sperm count is fine and all about me is fine just can't ovulate. We have three older children together ages 19 17 &15 years old and then we have a baby who will be 8 months old the 26th. We conceived the baby on the second round of 50mg clomid. Didn't need nothing to conceive the other children but I know I was younger to. Please any info would be helpful. Especialy your opionion on 150mg clomid. Thrugh all this I am still on the Metformin. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Answer
Hi Terri,

I'm not sure what your concern is here....  Is it that you may have side effects on the 150 mg of Clomid?

If your infertility specialist informed you about the potential side effects and risks of the higher dose of Clomid, then you and he need to weigh the benefits/risks and you need to decide if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risks of taking the higher dose of medication.

If you haven't already done so, consider a "second opinion" consultation with a board certified Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) near you.

Good luck,
