Infertility/Fertility - clomid progesterone and ovulation

Expert: Rebecca Carte - 5/31/2006

Question
I had a miscarriage in december 05. Since then, I have started on 10 days of progesterone, and 5 days of clomid. (days 3-7) I have yet to get a positive result on ovulation tests. And it's day 26 of my cycle. Does it take a couple months for this medication to work? Is it possible to have missed ovulation between days 6-10?

Answer
Jocelyn:

For some, it takes several cycles to reach ovulation with some fertility drugs.  Myself, I didn't ovulate on Clomid alone.  I had to add injectible fertility drugs such as Gonal-F* to the regimen.

You may begin to see some results, but if not, after a few cycles, your physician may recommend adding another type of medication to assist the process. You will most likely keep the Clomid and add something else to it.

Good luck,
~Rebecca
