For this question, I can never answer something that is still actual when you read it, because it all goes so fast. What I would like to recommend instead is to read the articles on www.slashdot.org. They are all about these new and emerging technologies.
The impact is not so easy to determine. Whole studies are made of them, for other organsiations to make use of. Also, the true impact can only be evaluated afterwards. Most of the impact now is just speculation.
