I'm sorry but this question is rather general for me to give a specific answer.
The ultimate answer is that any executive works with Business Intelligence (whether he knows it or not) to acquire data, analyse it, and use it to get leverage in the market in a profitable way. Information and knowledge that comes out of this analysis and is used as such, is called Business Intelligence.
