Information Technology - physical functional connection

Expert: Harshal Arolkar - 10/21/2006

Question
Hi,
I was wondering if you could explain to me the two steps on how to create a functional physical connection between a router and a console and a terminal?
i.e. what combination is reuquired for which, crossover, rollover, rj45? Please explain if you could be so kind.
Thank you.

Answer
Please Elaborate on the make of router you are using.. but still you can try this

connect one end of the console cable to the router, and other end to the serial interface of your PC. Once that is done, start your terminal emulation program. You will have to maintain the default settings, and once you get to the screen, press enter few times. You should get to the router command prompt.

Hope this may work for time being
