Question
I want to use Ingres for my startup and want to integrate it with .NET 2.0. I want to know how the integration works. the version 2006 is free or not. Where it stands when compared to other products.

Answer
>I want to use Ingres for my startup and want to integrate it with >.NET 2.0. I want to know how the integration works.

Ingres has a native driver for .NET.
It also supports OpenSQL with .NET.
I highly recommend you download the documentation set and review for yourself.

You can download the full documentation from:
http://esd.ingres.com/product/docs

>The version 2006 is free or not.
Yes, Ingres has been free since 2004.

>Where it stands when compared to other products.
This is a very broad question and depends on you needs. However, a general comparison among MySQL, PostgreSQL, MaxDB & Firebird can be found at:
http://www.geocities.com/mailsoftware42/db/

Please note the comparison is not entirely accurate. Most notably, nothing is mentioned about Ingres' Data Integrity, Security, Locking & Concurrency, Stored Procs, Transactions Replication and many other features, but it does have them all and IMHO, is superior.

I encourage you to visit http://www.ingres.com/ for further info.
