Question
Im a beginer roller blader. After looking online, there are so many kinds of blades to choose from. I would like to rollerblade outside now that the weather is nice. What should i be looking for in terms of recreational or fitness blades, wheel size, bearings ect. Im sure of these things are important but i dont know what i should be looking for. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks!

Answer
Hi Kara,
Because there are so many kinds of blades I would suggest you go to a couple sports stores and try different types on to see which one is the most comfortable and within your price range.

The brand doesn't matter as much as the comfort, price and good rolling skate.

You want good support and a wheel that rolls easily.  The larger the wheel the more roll you will get for your effort.  You want a bearing that is rated at least an abec 5.  The higher the abec rating the better the bearing but the price will also go up.

When you go shopping and find the skate you like, make sure you note the brand, style, size of wheel and the size of the boot.  This way if you think you can save money shopping online, you'll know exactly what to look for.  If the one you find in the store is a good price and fits well, just get it.  This way you'll know it fits and you won't have to pay shipping where you would if you ordered online.

Good Luck, I'm sure you'll find exactly what you want if you shop around.  Just remember to start with you don't need the best skate there is.  Wheels and bearings can always be upgrade.  Just make sure you like the looks, that it fits well and is within your price range.
