Question I used to play ice hockey and roller-blade frequently when I was younger. I have
now moved to NYC and I am interested in taking up speed skating or something
else ice skating or inline skating related. I haven't been able to find anything so
far and I was wondering if you know where I can do this. I would be interested
even if I have to travel a little bit (say an hour or so to get to a rink).
Answer Ashley,
I have several recommendations for you. As far as speed skating in NYC is concerned Empire Speed Skating team would be your best shot - <http://www.empirespeed.com>. is their website. You should be able to make contact with them through the site. If you have any problem you can call me at 212 777-3232 & I'll find out whom you can contact personally.
Another person involved with several aspects of inline skating - speed, hockey roller derby - is David Hyatt his email is <dhyatt@yahoo.com>. You can tell him I said to contact him.
If you are interested in the ice skating of any kind - the Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers is the place to go.
Hope this helps you - I'm sure it will.
