Subject: 17 year old in an accident
Question Hello,
I have a 17 year old daughter who has had her license for a little over 1 year. Yesterday she was following my wife's SUV in her car and at a traffic light my wife had to suddenly stop. My daughter was unable to stop the car on time and drove into the back of the SUV. My daughters car has damages worth about $3300.00 but the SUV is not damaged. The airbag in my daughters car did not deploy. I am not sure if I should report this to my insurance company or just get the car fixed on my own. I need some guidance, especially to know how filing a claim with my insurance company will impact my rates and my daughters license.
I sincerely appreciate your feedback.
Thanks
Answer Hi Corolla-
Filing a claim with your insurance company will definately impact your insurance rates. If the police were not there, then it should not impact her drivers license. If they were, it may, depending on state law regarding youthful drivers. If the police were not there, you may be better off in the long run paying for the repairs out of pocket, as an at fault claim will really drive up her premiums. Hope this helps. :) Denise
