Question My neighbor's cat came into our yard and fell into our oil bucket (My husband has not got around to dispose it). The cat drag the oil into his house and cause damages to his carpet and furniture. Now he wants us to call our home owners insurance to pay for the damage. There is a leash law in Colorado. Who is at fault here.
He's threatening us and I don't want the situation to escalate.
Answer Hi Kim-
You aren't liable for the damage, because his animal was the cause of it. Had he had his cat properly on a leash, it wouldn't have trespassed onto your land. Maybe you could call your local police and explain the situation, and they could have a talk with him. You certainly aren't liable. Hope this helps. :) Denise
