Subject: insurance replacing AC and carpeting

Question
Will my insurance replace my air conditioning if 12 years ago we found out that it was not installed correctly and that mold and dust is collecting in our carpeting and is making us sick?

Answer
Hi Marie-
Your insurance may repair the damages, if they can verify that the cause of the loss was improper installation, but it is unlikely that they will replace the unit itself.  You may have exclusions for mold in your policy.  This is an interesting one.  Make the claim, and let me know how it turns out.  The hard part will be proving that that is the cause of your damage, and not something else.  Hope this helps. :) Denise
