Question
QUESTION: I am interested in Exporting Electronics and name brand merchandise to Brazil & Exporting to America Materiels like Granite, I heard if you Export Electronics to Brazil they will Tax you to death so I heard you can Export to Padaguia or Argentina and then Drive it across the Border w/o paying taxes, is this true? what is the best way?

ANSWER: Hello:

Driving accross the border from Paraguay to Brazil is only feasible at the consumer level, because the allowance is low ($500 per person, I believe).

Electronics is a VERY competitive sector, and most brands have their own distribution channels, so I would stay away from it.

I suggest you look into industrial items, parts and components, where you deal with larger corporate buyers.  This is much more reliable as a business.

Hope this helps,

Rene

QUESTION: I dont think i have the money to get that deep into import/ export right now, even now i was just thinking about doing airplane trips back and forth carrying with me merchandise (1 laptop, 1 wii, a couple digital cameras, memory, stuff that can be believed to be persenal items) but once you get that stuff there is there a market or specific stores that will buy all your items?

Answer
Hello:

I have heard of passengers (and pilots) who take some items with them as they fly, and then sell the items over there ... I imagine to personal friends, as stores may be reluctant to buy items "off the street" (because of warranty and tax issues).

I do not know of any buyers for items brought into Brazil like this.
