Experience I have been working since 1987 as an international business developer and project manager in high tech business build ups from scratch in Germany, Great Britain and in Scandinavia. E.g. from August 2003 till November 2005 more than 150 people founded their own company in Germany with my help!
I have been an independent EU Business Consultant since 1997 and can practice what I preach, which is rare for a business consultant.
Based on that fact I have just helped the first small business enterprise in the UK to successfully making its breakthrough in Germany after only 12 month sales and marketing effort.

Question I am from Syria ,I have my trading company in Syria and I am looking to open a branch of this company in Italy. Please tell me what I need and what I have to do .what about the residence can I get it if I have business there?
Answer Hi,
that will not be easy, but in your situation I would do the following:
1. Contact the the commercial officer at the Italian Embassy in Damascus and ask him what the rules are for a non EU citizen to enter EU and do business there, further are there special advantages/limitation by being a resident in Italy.
2. Simultaneously contact the Syrian Embassy in Rome, Italy by e-mail and ask their commercial department the same questions.
Analyse the answers when you get them and you should know which steps you have to take. Then outline your strategy in time and money.
Be aware it will be difficult because of the current political climate. So be well prepared. Do you speak Italian? Have you translated your brochures into Italian?
These are essential measures. Further have you done your market research in Italy? Do you know your customer segment for your services? You also need to know the answers to these questions in order to succeed. The saying still goes: knowledge is power.
Good luck!
