About Thomas J. McAlinden, Professional Consultant
Expertise
After a highly successful 30+ year career in personnel and human resources, in tandem with a Masters in Human Resources degree, a Master of Science in Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Sociology and Philosophy, I am rather confident I can answer almost any question related to the Resume Preparation field.

Experience
Over the past 50 years, I have had the privilege of working for a number of small and large US and Canadian firms and government agencies as a human resource specialist and vocational psychologist. Although I am currently retired, I now offer my services at reduced rates to various international employment agencies and career conscious individuals find it advantageous to undergo vocational testing prior to having their resume prepared. Those who may be similarly interested are invited to contact me at: tjmcalinden@sympatico.ca. Unfortunately, the days when the job search candidate could "going it alone", depend on old vocational skills assessments, and then just prepare their own employment presentations are over.

International Jobs - Skills-based resume

Expert: Thomas J. McAlinden, Professional Consultant - 4/25/2002

Question
Hi Thomas,

I'm in the process of trying to make a career change, or rather become more focused on a chosen career path. I have recently passed several IT certification exams, and am trying to condense my resume and make it more skills-based, but am having a hard time putting together 10+ years of various work experience including international work experience into something cohesive. If you could point me to a couple of resume prep site that you would recommend I would really appreciate it. There are tons of them out there, and was hoping you could narrow my choices some what.

Thanks,
Joe

Answer
Hi Joe!

Actually Joe, my own site at http://www.tjmcareers.com has resume, interview and general job search information that may be of assistance. Just type the keyword "resume" and you will find many. Be careful, some online prep services can be rather expensive.

Take care and Good Luck!
