About Thomas J. McAlinden, Professional Consultant Expertise After a highly successful 30+ year career in personnel and human resources, in tandem with a Masters in Human Resources degree, a Master of Science in Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Sociology and Philosophy, I am rather confident I can answer almost any question related to the Resume Preparation field.
Experience Over the past 50 years, I have had the privilege of working for a number of small and large US and Canadian firms and government agencies as a human resource specialist and vocational psychologist. Although I am currently retired, I now offer my services at reduced rates to various international employment agencies and career conscious individuals find it advantageous to undergo vocational testing prior to having their resume prepared. Those who may be similarly interested are invited to contact me at: tjmcalinden@sympatico.ca. Unfortunately, the days when the job search candidate could "going it alone", depend on old vocational skills assessments, and then just prepare their own employment presentations are over.
International Jobs - A University Placement Interview for a job in France
Expert: Thomas J. McAlinden, Professional Consultant - 8/14/2001
Question Hello Thomas, I hope you can help me. I am a 2nd Year uni student studying BA(hons) Business studies with Languages and I am due to embark upon a placement year in France. I have a job interview with EuroDisney, Paris and would very much like a placement there. The problem I have, is that the course requirements may not match the job description. How do you advise me to tackle this problem at the interview, should I accept whatever is offered (if anything at all!) i.e. working in a restaurant, or should i ask for a role which is more business orientated? In other words, should I attempt to call any shots!
Answer Good Day Andrew Vivin!
Last year you contacted me at Allexperts with a career related problem. I hope things worked out for you. I now have a new website at http:///www.tjmcareers.com. This new site contains 25 career oriented sections dealing with the most important problems facing the 21st century's job-search candidate. I also invite you to send me a copy of your current resume for a free review. Best of luck and God bless.
