I am a Mexican that just finished an MBA in Washington State University. I am looking for a job everywhere, and in the internet I found an interesting one in Spain. I think I have all the requirements. However they ask for a valid working permit. I know that between Mexico and Spain there are a lot of new commercial treats. That is why I would like to ask you: As a Mexican, can I work legally in Spain? If not, what are the legal procedures to obtain a working permit, if this is possible?
Answer Dear Jose, hello and thanks for the question.
I must admit that I am not familiar with the Spanish labour market, in particular concerning any bilateral arrangments between Mexico and Spain.
Generally, you will not be able to work in Spain. As a EU country, Spain requires that you have a working/resident permit (possible a VISA, perhaps not necessary for Mexicans). If a firm in Spain makes you an offer , you may be able to obtain a temporary working permit. Otherwise there is no possiblity I am aware of, except any bilateral agreement as I mentioned above.
