Question I am having to drop my cable internet because of financial woes. I am freaking about having to give up my internet. I have a laptop with a wireless network card. Is there a cheap way to get internet? I was looking at dsl but I do not have phone service where I live. Any suggestions. Please help, I have two days before I lose my internet. Thank you.
Answer Some areas are installing free or low cost WiFi networks, if that's available in your area then its certainly an alternative. Otherwise you will have to find local free or low cost "hotspots" where you can connect. Some librariers offer this, some public parks have it.
You can't just connect to someone else's network without permission. However, its possible that a neighbor has a wireless router and would be willing to allow you to share it, maybe kicking in a small amount.
