Question
Hi, I expect this is a fairly basic question but I would appreciate your help.

Where are emails actually stored ?
I have had a dial up connection and now going to broadband with a different ISP.  I need to know if my emails/address book are stored on my laptop hard drive and will still be accessible after I change over?
Many thanks
Sue

Answer
Hi Sue, thanks for your question! Depending on who your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is, they store your emails. They arrive at a server and then are transfered into whatever email program you happen to use.

If you are changing just your connection, your address book will remain the same and as long as everything is stored on your hard drive, you will be fine. If you have a web-based email server such as Hotmail, GMAIL, etc., then everything would be online.

Does this answer your question?
