AboutKen Ivey Expertise If you are new to the Internet you may be anxious to give it the gas; or terrified to take your foot from the brake! Either way, with over 20 years on what is now called the information highway, I can steer you in the right direction. Are you ready? Let's hit the road!
Experience I have over 20 years of practical experience with web-related issues, and some military computer training. I've worked for a computer manufacturer, and own a small technology company specializing in web-design, hosting, and internet media production. I am the webmaster of several sites, and e-newsletter editor for Rotary District 6760 which is comprised of 65 clubs throughout middle Tennessee.
Education/Credentials I'd like to say a diploma from a revered educational facility hangs on my wall, and perhaps someday it will. In reality, everything I know has been self-taught, much of it done so in the hallowed halls of that venerable institution called "The School of Hard Knocks".
Question in GENERAL terms, what are some of the most effective ways to prevent keyloggers?
example: i use my pc at work to log into my bank accounts. when i finish i delete the "cookies" and clear "history". will that help prevent keyloggers if one day my work pc gets a virus? if not what else can i do?
Answer IM --
To my knowledge, there is no bullet-proof way to prevent keyloggers - but password management software, like that recommended at http://the-tech-reporter.com/recommends/ will prevent your username and password from passing through the tracking software. Your username could still be caught in a screen capture, however.
Im, a virus is not the only way to become a victim of keylogging. Many employers use keylogging and screen captures to monitor employee activity.
Your best defense is to NOT use your PC at work for personal business. You may wish to bring a laptop or smartphone to take care of that.
