Question QUESTION: I have a dell Intel pentium 4 PC windows 2000 XP professional and I want to know how to download music from the nett on to CD,I have a computers simplified manual but
it explains everything except this please can you help me?.
ANSWER: First, You either have Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional. They are two different things. Second, downloading music is no different from downloading any files. The exact process depends on the site. Generally you either double click a link to start the download process or you select a file and press a Download button. Then follow instructions. You need to make sure you note where on your drive you are downloading to.
Once you download you can burn the files to CD. How depends on what files you download, whether your CD player supports MP3 format and what software you use. You can use Windows Media Player to create CDs that will play in any CD player.
Finally, while there are places where you can download music for free, most current commercial music is under copyright protection. So it would be illegal to download without paying.
Hope this helps

QUESTION: Thank you for your help, I have one other question, can I
connect the headphone jack socket of my sony music center
to a USB port on my PC to burn my LP's to disc, assuming
I can get the right lead?. Appreciate your time
Answer Nope, you could try using the the headphone jack to the Microphone input. But I would recommend getting an ION USB turntable. This will connect to a USB port on your PC and turn your vinyl to MP3s.
I have one and it works well. It gives a lot better quality of recording. I've seen them on sale for under $100.
