Internet for Beginners - boosting internet signal

Expert: Scottgem - 8/1/2009

Question
This summer the campground I stay at got wireless capability in the common rec room area- sites near the rec room can access this easily- my site, I've been here for several summers, is too far to receive a steady signal.  I've asked if it would be ok to some how access the signal from where I am by boosting the signal and have been told to 'go for it', but the campground personnel have no idea how to tell me to boost it... can you help?  thanks

Answer
You need to get a repeater that can be located within range of the router to broadcast the signal over a wider area. Several manufacturers make them.

Depending on the router you may be able to boost the signal with a hi gain antenna.

Hope this helps
