Question
Hello,

I have DSL 6000 internet connection now. I have an offer for DSL 16000 for almost the same price. Can I expect that the downloads are faster if I opt for the DSL 16000? Is it depend on the built in internal modem of the computer(notebook) also? I prefer to use wireless lan.

How can I find the speed of my built in wireless lan modem?`

thanking you,
Sincerely,
Kevin

Answer
DSL speeds are only guaranteed between your modem and the central Office (CO) you are connected to. From there it goes out to the Net and is subject to traffic.

Second, what are those numbers? Mbps? Bps? Your wireless LAN is only going to give you 54 Mbps, maybe up to 125 if you have a speedbooster or Pre N. So that will act as a bottleneck.
