Question
I know this may sound like a strange question. What is the meaning of a web page in simple terms and language? Thank You.

Answer
Hi Roger,
Thanks for the comments, but I'm curious about your being "surprised" by my knowledge.

By the way, you can find out more about the web and its history at www.w3c.org.

Up to a little more then 10 years ago the Internet was almost totally text based. A need was perceived to provide a way to view graphical and image data over the Internet. A programmer named Tim Berners-Lee developed protocols and a formatting language to allow software on a local PC (your browser) to view files stored on a server on the Internet with text and images. These files could link to other files to display additional files and images. When the links to these other files was diagrammed, the diagrams resembled a spider's web. So this whole thing was named the World Wide Web and the files referred to as WEB pages and the servers where these files were stored were referred to as WEB servers.
