Question i can not access items i download from the internet,they seem to download ok as the icons appear where i have downloaded them to, but when i click on them nothing happens

What are the file extensions (like ZIP, JPG, GIF, etc) of the files you are downloading? Are they all the same file extensions? Where do they download to? What OS (operating system) are you using?
