Question
i have a broadband connection at home with limited download capacity. the problem is every now and then some data is being downloaded unintentionally (without me clickin for information or chatting) like some software is gettin updated.this unnecessaryily decreases the download limit.is there any way i can monitor the data comin to my pc and prevent such unwarranted downloads?i have even turned off update fetures.is there any way by which i can completely disallow data from coming to my pc without my consent?

Answer
There many be many porograms that were set to d/l automatically when you installed them. Especially anti-virus and anti-spyware whihc need to be updated whnever updates are available.

You need to check all your programs and adjust each one's update setup.

Another possibility is to adjust your firewall to reject all calls to the Net and prompt you.

Hope this helps
