Answer Depends on what version of Windows is on it. If you have XP Pro or Win 2K, you can set your screensaver to kick in after a short period of inactivity and require a password to get out of the screensaver. The password for those OSes is pretty secure.
Another possibility is a poweron password. To set one, you need to go into your CMOS setup and set a password there.
Also since its a laptop, you can always lock it in a cabinet.
