Internet Culture - Becoming an expert

Expert: Dan Scherer - 5/29/2006

Question
I dont know where i should post this question, so I ask you:
Why is it so complicated to become an "expert" on this site? I want to help people if I know the answer, but dont want to have to answer questions in a timelimit as "2-3 days".

Answer
"Expert" is really a matter of definition; also it often arises from someone's ego. Unfortunately, colleges do not grant degrees in that category.  But a relevant degree and a record of experience in the chosen area will help convince others one is an "expert."  In the old days, folks defined "expert" as someone 50 miles from home. Not sure if this helps.  Dan, editors@copyhawk.com
