Internet Media/Using the Internet while out of town

Question
I have a laptop.

I want to be able to perform my job when I go out of town.

Right now, I use my desktop pc and the Internet.  I receive an email from the company with the list of calls to be made in excel.

I make alot of long distance calls.

I have to send back the excel list with updated info through my email.

When I go out of town, I can't use other people telephones because I will tie up their line and make too many calls on them.

When I am at home my laptop will access the Internet because we downloaded our Internet Provider software.

Any suggestions will be appreciate.

Answer
If the places you go have DSL connections you can hook up your laptop with a wireless modem without using up their phone line. You could use a cell phone or PC based calling software to make calls on your computer. Otherwise, get a wireless Internet service and use PC based calling software so you can make calls and access the Internet using only your laptop anywhere you go.

Packet8 and Snipe have good computer calling plans.

Verizon has a good wireless Internet access plan.

Hope I helped
